Legislative and Political Action Involvement

We have a Political Action Committee called the Machinist Non Partisan Political League (MNPL). This Political Action Committee allows our members the right to make voluntary political donations to candidates that support Labor's agenda.

The I.A.M. provides political training on legislative issues that impact our members lives such as job security, safe work environment, health care and many more. A Legislative program was developed to ensure that our issues are addressed.

To seek  political training or make a voluntary donation to the MNPL, please talk with your Business Representative.

Politics And You
by DBR Everett C. Corey

Many members believe that Politics have no effect on them personally.  Others believe that their vote or their effort won't make a difference.  Both of these belief's are untrue and dangerous.
The water you drink, the food you eat, the car you drive and every facet of your life is subject to standards, laws, ordinances and regulations.  Most importantly your job and your union contract are affected by these same factors. Who makes the standards, laws, ordinances and regulations?
Politicians  do!!!

The same politicians you elect to look after your welfare in your town and in Washington DC. the problem is some of these politicians are not looking after your welfare.

The IAM's Machinists Non-Partisan Political League
(MNPL) is the political and legislative arm of the IAM.  Its purpose is to educate our members about labor issues and labor friendly candidates.  MNPL insures that members have knowledge, the facts and the power to "make the difference", protect your union contract, protect your job and most importantly, protect you and your family.

All of the above takes money.  Not dues money but money donated by our members.  Money used to educate our members and money used to
support politicians that support us.

If your  contract doesn't have a MNPL checkoff clause, the IAM has a 10/10 Program.  This card allows you to make a $10 dollar sponsoring member contribution and asks for a voluntary 10 hour commitment from you to help on a campaign.

Please sign up today by contacting your steward, officers, Business Representative or call the District Offices in CT and RI.  (CT- 860-828-0359, RI- 401-943-8331).

MNPL tracks anti labor legislation and supports pro labor legislation.  Only you, through support of MNPL and our candidates, can secure and insure the future of working people and their families.  Any gain at the bargaining table can be lost through bad legislation.

Please become a sponsoring member of  MNPL...............

THE JOB YOU SAVE MAY BE YOUR OWN!!!
